Jonah Energy Partners With ONE Future to Advance Emission Reduction Policies

DENVER, CO., April 13, 2022—Natural gas produced in the United States can end Europe’s dependence on Russian energy through LNG exports without impacting domestic demand. The additional benefit is U.S. natural gas is subject to stringent environmental standards making it some of the cleanest natural gas in the world.

Jonah Energy is a proud member of ONE Future, an organization comprised of 53 companies representing the entire US natural gas value chain committed to a performance-based approach to reducing methane emissions. Development of a single, unified, open-source measurement, reconciliation and verification standard is the path forward to achieving aggressive methane reduction targets.

Efforts with ONE Future, in partnership with leading independent natural gas production company EQT Corporation, build on our work with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and International Methane Emission Observatory (IMEO) to implement the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership 2.0 (OGMP 2.0) protocols and a performance-based emission reduction policy.

Jonah Energy fully supports the recent US and European Commission natural gas agreement and strongly supports OGMP 2.0 to meet Europe’s strict methane emission requirements.

About Jonah Energy LLC

Jonah Energy is an oil and gas exploration and development company headquartered in Denver, Colorado and operating in the Jonah and Pinedale Fields in Sublette County, Wyoming. The company is one of the largest privately held natural gas producers in the US and focuses on producing natural gas in an environmentally responsible manner.

About ONE Future

ONE Future was formed when seven companies came together in 2014 with a focus to collectively achieve a science-based average rate of methane emissions across our facilities equivalent to 1% or less of total natural gas production. Since our formation, we have grown to more than 50 companies accounting for some of the largest natural gas producers, transmission, and distribution companies in the U.S. ONE Future members operate in 16 out of the 38 production basins and have distribution operations in 36 out of the 50 states, other segments of the value chain operate in multiple regions of the country as well. Therefore, ONE Future’s data represent a geographically diverse and material share of the U.S. natural gas supply chain.

About OGMP 2.0

The OGMP is a Climate and Clean Air Coalition initiative led by the UN Environment Programme, in partnership with the European Commission, the UK Government, the Environmental Defense Fund, and leading oil and gas companies. Already 62 companies with assets on five continents representing 30 percent of the world’s oil and gas production have joined the partnership. The OGMP 2.0 is the new gold standard reporting framework that will improve the reporting accuracy and transparency of anthropogenic methane emissions in the oil and gas sector.
